Q+A

We have tried to answer as many questions as we can below but if you have any further queries please get in touch.

#01

Where do we jump on the boat?

Tortuga is berthed at Portland Marina, trips start & finish from here unless prior arrangements have been made.

#02

What times can we book for?

We aim to be as flexible as possible when it comes to timing, however we must be back at the dock one hour after the sun sets.

#03

Is there parking nearby?

The marina has plenty of parking, it's a pay on exit (from the machine by the marina office) car park.

#04

How many friends can I invite on board Tortuga?

We can take a maximum of 12 guests, the table can seat 8 friends with plenty more seating in the cockpit area.

#05

Is there a minimum age?

There is no minimum age on board, however in order to make sure we have enough child & infant lifejackets we request you let us know about children at the time of booking.

#06

Is food included?

Food is BYO, our stewardess is here to manage and serve the food you bring along.

#07

Is alcohol allowed on board?

Alcohol is allowed on board, moderation is a good idea. Wobbly heads & wobbly seas can make for wobbly tummies. Red wine is best left ashore.

Do I need to bring my own wetsuit?

If you have one & think you might like to use it then yes absolutely, if you would like to hire a wetsuit this can be arranged. We recommend 109 Watersports, a local shop with a great selection of wetsuits if you'd like to own one.

If you have one & think you might like to use it then yes absolutely, if you would like to hire a paddleboard this can be arranged. We recommend 109 Watersports, a local shop with a great selection of SUPs if you'd like to own one.

What happens if the weather is bad?

In the UK sadly we can't rely on the weather, we do our best to sail in the most comfortable conditions & will always anchor in the most sheltered place possible. Tortuga is an extremely stable & comfortable boat, we have lots of lovely blankets on board if you get a little chilly. If the wind is above 25mph we will be forced to cancel, in this case when we cancel, a full refund will be offered or we re-arrange for a new date or enjoy your time on board tied up in Portland Marina or Weymouth Harbour. If it's you that decides the day is too grey then we can look to re-arrange but full refunds cannot be offered.
